AnthTak 19 - with Jo at Ram Iyer's house

Our 19th meet happened on 29 Sept, with the quick gesture of Rama Iyer taking the opportunity to invite (Jo)seph Thomas for an informal meet at her residence. Jo was in Bangalore. Quickly AntTak group was informed about his coming over. Most of them weren't in a position to attend. Few of us could and did.

Like our earlier meet with Pradip Somasundaran at the same venue, this one too was a moment to cherish. We all waited for our gathering, but eventually it started around 7pm. Jo came in with two of his friends Biju and Leo. (We were later told both his friends knew nothing about this evening. Jo didn't tell them it would be a musical evening, and they thought we would discuss Jo's blog!)

As always, Rama and Ram were great hosts for us, providing samosas, khara mixtures, chips initially. They organised dinner too by late evening. We all had a filling dinner served with love....it was very good!

JO was center of attraction, singing songs in Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam. We had him sing our favourites including Shyaama Meghame, Maana Ho Tum, Unnai Paarthadaal Inda Kaadal (composed and written by Narayan Venkitu) and many others. He humbly gave us the treat on every request.

I'll line up the list of songs we could sing for the day soon.

Definitely this time, all of us missed rest of AntTak group. It was a unplanned meet and hence had to be scheduled at a short notice. But being music lovers, what is most important to everyone is that we just don't miss any opportunity to come together and enjoy listening and singing....so there was a good chance to do that.

I have two very short videos, one of Keerthana singing Kaatril Varum Geethame and the last line of Unnai Paarthadaal Inda Kaadal by Jo. I had run out of media space on my digicam, and couldn't time my recording. But you sure can enjoy this bit.

Hi Folks,

Deepa again!!

Lovely videos. Keerthana sings very well. Only advice to her, she should open up and sing. She seems to control her singing. Long way to go girl!! You are doing an amazing job.

Congrats to the Ant Tak team once again for putting up snippets for lesser privileged people like me.

My hi to Jo through here too:)

Deepa is my sister. And when she says she's less privileged she owes visits to AntTak program next time. She is a very good singer herself and her advice to Keerthana is true from her heart. Thanks Deepie.

It was a wonderful evening with Jo. The malayalam songs rendered by him were excellent. Unfortunately many of our Anttak family memebers were not present. Nevertheless next time when we meet we will invite Jo - will give him sufficient advance notice. Jo friend Biju also sang for the first time and you should see the photographs of Biju singing - see Jo admiring his friend.

Wonderful evening, I personally enjoyed all the songs rendered by everyone, though most AntTak members were absent.
Jo was amazing, and his friends were great company too...
Snacks were yummy and filling and was followed by a bonus dinner (which included my favourite tomato pickle) :O) too...

Thanks Suchin for immediate updation of blog with nice photos and a fitting write up. It is too good.....
