The much awaited Anth Tak 31 happened at Pankaj and Pinky's. This was aptly named "Bollywood Hungama". The ambience, decor, music, the costumes, the food all out of this world and screamed "Bollywood".
The evening began with Ramita singing the Rajasthani folk number "Kesariya Balam, Padaro Mhare Des". The songs sung by our Anth Tak-ites were all choice numbers and once again the kids who are the pride of our group did extremely well and sang on par with their elders.
Bollywood Calling had all our members wondering how they should come dressed as. Pinky took the cake with her depiction of Paro (Aishwarya Rai) in Devdas and Roopa Sharma (Mumtaz) in Brahmachari before sizzling yet again in a becoming salwar kameez. Madhu dressed as Basanti ( Hema Malini) from Sholay had all men, especially Manak transported to the Sholay era. Hats off to Madhu for her enthusiasm and fervour in giving this wonderful colour to the evening. Rekha sizzled in her Vandana ( Sharmila Tagore) attire from Aradhana while Imtiaz wooed her singing the 'Mere Sapnon Ki Raani' number as Arun (Rajesh Khanna). Ram sent everyone on a nostalgic trip as Raj (Raj Kapoor) from Awara. Manak and Tara as Amitabh and Jaya were impressive. Pankaj as Shah Rukh from Devdas and later Mohabattein, Chandra as Dharmendra, Priya as Poonam Dhillon, Venkat as the blind man Sudhir Kumar- Mohan from Dosti, Prashanth as Veeru (Dharmendra) from Sholay..all had everyone mesmerized. It was a different evening from our normal Anth Tak meets with this concept and everyone trying to live the character they were portraying for those few hours. Prashanth had everyone in splits with his timely and humour- filled punches.
The room had been made very lively with some of our bollywood stars on the walls who looked on as we lived them. The food..that is, the snacks as well as dinner, was lip-smackinly delicious. All in all an evening that we will remember long and long for the next meet which be better quick.
We missed Vijay, Poonam, Geetika, Siddharth, Suchin, Vivek, Kishore Panwar and Chitra. Anuraag, Ruchi, Akshay and Radhika were remembered as well.
